My work explores the ways in which we interact with our spatial surroundings, and in particular approaches to understanding how we can create legible environments. These projects investigate wayfinding, identity and the transformative possibilities of mobile and wireless technologies.

The book to be published as an outcome of the 2008 MEDIACITY conference is under preparation.
I've finished a contribution entitled 'Information Places' to the volume Urban Informatics edited by Marcus Foth, and also a chapter called 'Settings, Places and Connections' for the book 'Augmented Urban Spaces', edited by Alexander Aurigi and Fiorella De Cindio and to be published by Ashgate,
I have been invited to make a presentation at the SHIFT festival in Basel on 27th October 2007.

Two students I work with at the Bauhaus University of Weimar have had a paper I co-wrote with them accepted at ACM Multimedia Interactive Arts Program in September in Augsberg. The paper is entitled Hide&SEEK: Sharing Cultural Knowledge and describes a location-based street game where trails through the city are created by a 'Host' and experienced by a 'Guest'.
I will be at the Locative Media Summer Conference in Siegen, Germany on 3-5 September 2007.
In June I visited Lancaster University, and gave a small talk. The ppt is here. I was kindly invited to Lancaster by Keith Cheverst in the Computing Department and also met with Monika Buescher from the Centre for Mobilities Research. Monika works on a program called PalCom, and is co-organiser of an interesting workshop called Beyond Mobility: Studying Nomadic Work at ECSCW.

I'm going to be at a workshop entitled Branded Meeting Places on 19th and 20th June in Edinburgh. It's about how to reclaim a sense of shared public space in branded environments, and how enocunters in these spaces can be supported. More about the project here.

This semester I'm teaching on two courses at the Bauhaus University of Weimar, the first space and place is a seminar, and the second Information Places is workshop based.
I finished a chapter entitled: Situated Interactions: Spatial Settings in Mobile and Wireless Technologies for the publication 'Encyclopaedia of Wireless and Mobile Communications' to be published by Taylor and Francis. A draft copy can be downloaded here.

The book Encountering Urban Places from Ashgate Press has been published with my chapter Sensing Place: Mobile and Wireless Technologies and Urban Space
I'm going to be presenting the results of my field studies at the symposium on Cognitively Adequate Navigation Systems at KogWis07. the paper is entitled: Differences in Spatial Knowledge Acquisition form Maps and Mobile Maps.
